I was asked to design a program for a week of celebrations: The Gay Liberation Front turned 40 this july.
While researching for the gig, I found an old folded flyer from the 80's in Bøssehuset ("The Gay House") called "Bøssebladet" ("The Gay Paper").
The flyer mimicked the danish tabloid newspaper Ekstra Bladet – appropriate seeing how the flyer had propaganda-like content, much like you would find in Ekstra Bladet. The program became an homage to Bøssebladet.
In the back room of Bøssehuset where the boys dress up and turn into ladies was an old poster from the 70's hanging on the wall. "Alle Mænd er Bøsser" it said ("All Men are Gay") depicting two guys together. The Gay Liberation Front was not gay pride parade and "fitting in", it was about provoking and getting people to talk, so the lewd and, at the time, provocative pornographic imagery seemed to fit the whole week of celebrations perfectly.
I redid the poster with the original image and had it printed with black and fluorescent pink, so the back of the program was a poster for people to take home and hang in their kitchen, or wherever.
